Stick a Fork in it...

...this column's done. You can read all about finding fun uses for pumpkins in today's Chapel Hill News or right here online.

While this column wasn't about baking, you can find a delicious pumpkin bread recipe in the last post. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to try to get a trademark on "pumpcan holder."

The most interesting use I've seen for a pumpkin lately was brewing beer inside of a hollowed-out one:

Wow, that guy's out of my league. But maybe he can use a "pumpcan" holder if he bottles his home brew!

Love the pumpcan holder! Another thing to do with the innerds is to put them on your compost pile. This will make the squirrels very happy and if there is any sun there, next summer you will have your own pumpkins. While I agree with you about most things pumpkin, I must admit that pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream is third in line for favorite pies and is really essential for Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanks, Linda. With you in mind, I bet we could reconfigure the the pumpcan holder for a handle-less coffee cup (the metal, to-go kind). I'm sure it would keep it warm!

My squirrels are quite happy already, but I like the idea of pumpkins magically appearing with no effort on my part! Not sure we get much sun there, though.
